Louisiana irises and Welcome to the Aussies

Welcome to all of you new iris-L listers from Australia. By the way, could
you get the biggest cardboard box you can find and cram it full of John
Taylor and Heather Pryor's Louisiana irises and ship them to my house.:)
If customs asks any questions, just say they are silk plants.;) Just
kidding, of course, but a hearty welcome to all recent newcomers to the
iris-L.

On the topic of Louisiana irises, I have recently been going over all of my
literature and catalogs making wish lists ad infinitum. Isn't that typical
of chronic iris virus? While having daydreams about hybridizing LA's I ran
across an iris that sounded like it would be nice for developing shorter LA
iris cultivars - LITTLE MISS SIMS (Chowning 1978) 20" M, Small raspberry
self. I found this description in Cooper's Garden catalog from 1990. Did
anyone receive a catalog from Cooper's this year, and if so, do they still
list this one?

While I'm asking questions, does anyone know if there is a separate R&I for
LA's or would they be included in the various AIS R&I's? The "Louisiana
Iris" book indicates on page 206 that Charles Fritchie produced a check
list publication which was entitled "Louisiana Iris Cultivars" in 1982.
Does anyone know if copies are still available?

I did notice that in my last SLI Newsletter, the new registrations and
introductions for 1996 were listed in the back. Has this been a standard
feature of the SLI Newsletter? I looked in my last SLI Newsletter and did
not see any information about ordering back issues or publications like
Fritchie's check list. Does the SLI sell back issues?

I know, lots of questions for one e-mail message. Any answers would be
greatly appreciated.
