CULT: raised beds

I don't know who told you that, Theresa, but I have been using old
railroad ties for my raised beds for more than 15 years, and they (1)
don't move, and (2) have lasted this long without need of replacement.
I've never seen any ill effect on the irises, some of which grow right
up against them. So, if you're looking to save some money, I recommend
them without reservation.
