Hello Everybody,
This evening, I got back from Florida. Since I will be here for
awhile, I have come back on board the Iris-L. It will be good to hear from
you all again. While in Florida, I noticed that the African Iris is an
extremely popular plant there. In fact, many plants are still blooming.
Although not in bloom, I noticed that some people there have Louisiana
Irises, some Japanese Irises, and some species such as Iris tridenta, Iris
versicolor, and Iris tripetala. (Spelling?)
In response to Rima's question about survivability, the following
three TB Irises are very durable: TULIP FESTIVAL, LORELEY, and POLAR KING.
Although they do better when properly cared for, these three can tolerate
some neglect and not die. All three increase rapidly. POLAR KING is a
rebloomer.
To Julie in Sparta, Tennessee: I am sorry I couldn't respond sooner.
I lost your e-mail address. If you still would like to have a piece on the
Kentucky Freeze Test, let me know, and I will start work on it.
Does the topic of Hybridizing belong on this List? YES-- This
information is useful to many of us. If you are not interested in that
topic, hit the delete key.
I guess I better go now. I hope that Rusty is still with us.
Hopefully, he didn't get flooded out by that rain system that it looks like
is coming this way. We do need the water as we are now very dry.
