RE: Clay soil

We have tried a number of ways of amending the soil. The newest best we =
used a lot of Triple Mix. I do not recommend this. We have had more rot =
problems from this bed than from the other beds. We are going back to peat =
=
moss which is the time-honoured way of loosening clay. Subsequent years we =
=
add mushroom compost and of course alfalfa.

I am embarking on the creation of a new iris bed in our heavy clay soil.
I notice that a number of you have done the same and wondered if you had
any suggestions as to how best to prepare the bed for iris?
