Nancy I have had this before too, I think it is some sort of fungus. I
originally thought one of my cats had yakked up something. It didn't seem to do
any harm - just looks scary.

P.S. Does anybody know what's going on in my iris bed? Throughout the bed
there are places where it looks like someone splattered thick cream...It's
even on the soaker hose in places!
