Very common in LA's.  Not related to borer.  Also happens in TB's and other
irises less frequently.  What reading I've done about this condition
indicates that it's common in very healthy plants.  Artist Darryl Trott, in a
picture provided by the AIS to "The Louisiana Iris" book, shows this
condition quite prominently on his beautiful painting of Clara Goula - the
"great ruffled one" we all love.  I wouldn't worry about it and, as Rima
said, I think it's very beautiful!
