Well there are some pet "Repellent" granules that you can buy in the
garden stores. Chicken manure works for keeping cats out. I find a roll
of two foot high chicken wire and small dowels for stakes works fine for
keeping my German shepherd out of a place he hasn't learned is off
limits yet. When the plants are established and I have warned him once
or twice, he gets the picture, and I can roll up the chicken wire and
store it for the next time
