No, NO, NO! It wasn't me that suggested that. It was a previous writer.
That passage was included, for reference only, in my post in which I
suggested granular repellents and/or chicken wire. I don't like the
"pungi" stake idea either. My iris are very important, but there are
other ways not dangerous to child, adult or animal to deal with
marauding critters. As always when there are children and pets around
one must be extra careful including caution in the use of things like
repellents, fertilizers, and snail bait.

I know it sometimes gets confusing reading replies to replies etc.
