Fellow listers -- I received two messages recently that my machine
malevolently disposed of in mysterious ways before I could respond to
them. One was from MSO LARAMIE, subject "JR available". The machine says
"Folder no longer exists." I would like to be able to respond to
whomever sent this message (and I would also like to know what the
message said).
The other one I DID get to read. It was from someone who had noticed my
picture in the Region 4 Newscast and was kind enough to say so without
making any disparaging remarks. (For THAT, at least, I want to thank
her.) The machine disposed of that one before I could record the name
and address.
I once heard a Ukrainian poet say that the machine would never dominate
man because man has an indomitable spirit. That was before computers.
Computers have a certain mule-ishness about them that tends to invite
the use of a 2x4 to get their attention. The difference, of course, is
that the mule may still work after you use the 2x4.
