Bill,

I saw a wonderful group of C. giganteum growing in the UBC Botanical
gardens in Vancouver.  I bought one at a sale years ago and lost it during
a very cold winter. I think it is quite cold sensitive.  Perhaps if you
contacted the UBC Botanical Gardens they could tell you more about how they
grow it, soil pH, moisture, humus etc.
It's a beautiful plant!
