OT: Nancy Silverberg

Hello Talk-ers,

I have a bit of sad iris news to report. Last Saturday (Aug. 1st) our 
little world lost a most remarkable irisarian in the form of Nancy 
Silverberg of Molalla, Oregon, beloved wife of Dave Silverberg.

As you know, Nancy battled cancer for a number of years but was in 
remission for the past couple of years. During this time,  Dave and 
Nancy took time off from their garden and other iris duties (Dave was 
President of HIPS in 1995) to travel the country visiting friends and 
relatives to make the most of their time together.

Nancy will be remembered for her utter devotion to her family and 
friends and her vast knowledge of all things "Iris". I will remember her 
special way of making all visitors to her garden feel like life-long 
friends and her generous nature in sharing our favorite plant. Often, I 
was amazed at Nancy's tireless efforts with AIS and especially during 
the 1994 National Convention held in Portland, Oregon when their garden 
was one of the tour gardens.

God's Garden will be blessed with Nancy's return and I am sure she will 
have much to say planning His iris beds.
