I too have the same problem as you. I love seeing color all year but
have difficulty accomplishing that with limited knowledge (and planting
space) of blooming times for plants other than iris. So far, I have
added Daylilies, Asiatic Lilies, Oriental Lilies, Dahlias, Roses,
Alstromerias and Asters. These have worked well for me and are easy to
find in most nurseries. Also, if you can find it, I. unguicularis is fun
to have for the dead of winter. There are several color forms available
but difficult to find in catalogs and virtually not available in any of
the nurseries around here.

OOOOOHHH!!! You have room? The King County Iris Society is having their
fall sale in September. We have a great selection of bearded and
beardless irises at great prices. You should definitely come see what we
will be offering. With any luck we may have unguicularis for you. Also,
it would be fun to have you as a member of our club. We meet first
monday of each month at the Center for Urban Horticulture on the UW
campus. Our meetings usually consist of special speakers (with slides,
of course), door prizes (usually irises , of course) and SNACKS!!!!!
