Were these just very tiny new increase that your friend had seperated
from the mother rz? If so, they would take a while to establish a root
system, and grow big enough to produce their own offspring. You
certainly wouldn't get many flowering in the first season.
Rz's that I have received from suppliers, often have quite a few small
increase already, so will multiply fairly rapidly. One I received this
year was a double rz, still attatched to part of the parent and with
many new increases. Siberians and spurias are often sent as a small
clump of rz's. I suppose it depends how generous the company is, that
you are dealing with.
