I thought this sounded familiar. I had a case of this myself, but
completely discarded the effected rz as I had plenty of healthy ones.
Is this a specific fungal organism? Is it the same organism that causes
leaf spot? I had a lot of that this season too, and blamed the rain
splashing of the sawdust mulch. The sawdust had sat in a large heap for
many years, and was well rotted (almost black).
