The Southern California Iris Society will hold itsfall Tall Bearded Iris
Auction next Saturday, August 22nd. The auction will start at 10:00 am
in the lecture hall of the Los Angeles County Arboretum. We are going
to have lots of wonderful iris to bid on so please come on down and join
us. The time for the auction / meeting is earlier than normal and we
will not be having a potluck. After the auction we will adjourn to
Peppers for lunch.
I am in the midst of preparing the list of cultivars that we will have
for bidding on and it is pretty exciting. We have to give special
thanks to Superstition Gardens who were very generous to us. This is
the first of three auctions that we will have. The second will be in
early October. It too is a TB auction with the proceeds going to
benefit Region 15. In early November we will have a beardless auction.
I may even try a stab at growing a spuria again but if I don't succeed
this time I am going to stick to what grows for me.
For any of you locals who might be interested in attending and don't
know how to get to the LA County Arboretum please contact me off list
for directions.
