I found this most interesting - I. pallida variegata (Aurea)
does very well here - I do not have I. pallida variegata (Argentea)
which I know John has...which one did you send them? If it was
the more tender Argentea, I will not get it.

Mine all do well - well, all 15 of them do. :)) I am still planting
bearded (way behind this year because of our move) and consider
this a test year...have to hope that the hard frost doesn't come
until Oct. 1st. If it come in Sept., this will be the ultimate
test - I do NOT mulch bearded irises in Zone 3a, BTW. I did one
year and decided it was too risky when the snow melts late in the
Spring and leaves puddles around the rhizomes, etc. Now they are
on their own and none the worse for it.
