Re: Reblooming questions

From: Christa Royer <croyer@fastrans.net>

Hi Donald,
Rebloomers do require more food and water. They produce more so need
more attention in this area. I give mine at least an inch of water a
week unless there has been enough rainfall. In July and October I give
them a mixture of alfalfa meal and 5-10-5. It works out to about a tsp
each. this is less than I give them in Feb. Rebloomer will rot from to
much fertilizer just as oncers do.
They definitely increase faster, especially the sdb's and medians.
They will all need to be divided oftener than oncers.
Each plant seems to have it's own time to bloom. So the bloom season
can run in some areas from Aug until it gets to 25 degrees. Then they go
dormant. When you keep records (which really helps RIS), you can see the
patterns of each plant.
I found that when I mixed the two I didn't get much rebloom. Some
that I had had for several years with no rebloom, really blossomed when
moved to the rebloom beds.
You didn't ask but--Yes they are more work but---Immensely rewarding
:>)

Hope this helps
