Cheryl,
I pot my dwarfs and medians in 4 inch pots to give away as door prizes
or to sell at our iris shows in the spring. I let them brave the winter
in pots without any protection. I don't even dig them into the ground.
They survive and bloom just fine. However, I live in Seattle where our
winters are pretty mild. Maybe you should dig the pots into the ground
and cover them with a light mulch for the winter.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
P.S. Some of the Iris-Talker received some of these potted plants this
spring and from what they have told me, they did fine even after
transplant.
