Gerry,

Why do you feel you need to put your pots in the basement after you have
potted them?   I have about 100 in pots and I leave them out doors in the
winter through snow and rain and they do fine.  They will bloom in pots.  I
use gallon pots and have the rhizome sitting at dirt level.  No problem!
You might want to try some outdoors and see how they do for you.  Good luck!
