HYB: SDB and IB fertility question

From: Chad Schroter <Chad.Schroter@quantum.com>

I have an iris called STINGER which is registered as a horned SDB. It's
parentage is unusual in that one parent (MUCHACHA) is from SDB lines and the
other (EGYPTIAN) is from TB lines. The result is normally registered as an
IB and has chromosomes 12/12/12/8 as a result. I assume that STINGER was
registered as an SDB because it meets the height and flower size
requirements.

According to the WOI, IB's are of limited fertility, in particular the
pollen is not potent. I know that STINGER will set pods, as I have seen them
in another garden.

If STINGER is crossed with SDB's what will the result be in terms of
Chromosomes/fertility ? Are these results possible:
12/12/12/8 x 12/12/8/8 ->  12/12/8/8 (normal SDB),  12/8/12/8 (???),
12/12/12/8 (normal IB)

Another question - If IB types can be crossed with SDB's and yield some
SDB's would this be a good way to transfer TB color patterns etc into SDB
lines ?
