Hi All,
Well, Hurricane Bonnie has left us here in
Goldsboro, NC. We had some serious 70+mph winds yesterday and all of last
night and almost 6 inches of rain. No real damage here. Only a few
downed trees and power lines. Thank goodness we weren't on the
coast. The wind is still blowing and it is still drizzling off and
on. Last heard that Bonnie was moving across the northern coast of North
Carolina, downgraded to a Tropical Storm. I hope she's not a problem for
any of you up in Virginia or farther north.
I want to thank all of you for your concern
while we went through this storm and for all of the suggestions about what do to
with my newly planted irises. I pulled some of them up as I had only
planted late last week. I already had replanted some older iris in this
bed about a month ago, so I had to leave them. The all fared pretty well
and I'll be putting the new ones back into the ground tomorrow. My husband
did a terrific job when he made this bed for me. Only during the heaviest
of downpours yesterday did I see even a small amount of standing water between
the rows and with the wind blowing so much, the water evaporated rather
quickly.
Again, thanks to all for your concern and your
help. It is greatly appreciated.
