Actually Bonnie wasn't that bad for the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I
live in Portsmouth, which is 12 miles from the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Here we
sustained winds up to 65 mph and ONLY received 2.44 inches of rain. Only
because of Bonnie have we avoided one of the dryest August rain on record.
Several areas are still without power and tree limbs are down. Haven't had
any hurricane damage, except for broken limbs and debris in the gardens. We
had a NorEaster earlier this year with more damage. Skys are clear,
everything is calm, temperature is 77F, and sun is trying to peak out at
10:00am local time on Friday. We did experience a "pucker factor" when it
was reported that Bonnie had turned back into a hurricane and might be
headed back toward us... Now, we keeping a close eye on Danielle!
BillSmoot - who remains thankful!
