Re: SIB: Black Flowers

From: Debby Wheeler <foxbrook@javanet.com>

Tealwood is a dark blue\purple\black Sib that I like very much. (and it
is quite tall for me, typically)
John White had some VERY dark seedling out of Hollingworths's Over in
Gloryland and a seedling of Currier McEwen's that were quite a bit
darker than the parents and (tealwood, too).
As for red\black sibs, the best had to be a seedling of Marty Schafer's
that I had ther pleasure of seeing the first flower of this year. It
had a more full (bordering on ruffled) form than Helsley's Wings of
Night (a good bet for a dark wine) as well as much deeper wine\black
color. It was REALLY IMPRESSIVE and we shall see children of it on the
market, if Marty and Jan don't introduce it. I also should remind
everyone that Marty gets all of his impressive amount of color variation
in diploids.
