Well, I had to cut and bring in the 2d-year seedling that was trying to bloom
for the first time. A freeze was forecast for that night. It opened the next
day (yesterday).
The bad news: Its buds were damaged enough by a sneak freeze a day earlier
that it's not photographable.
The good news: It's a velvety red-violet self with a lighter edge on the
falls, sturdy stem, 3 branches, 2 spurs, and 8 buds. 34 1/2".
Can't wait for spring. -- Griff
