On the other hand, I would have been better off if I'd taken them inside. As
stated earlier, I had over 1,000 seed to plant. Two hundred and forty eight
of those were my reblooming red on yellow cross. I chose the concrete table
that you saw in the pictures as the place to plant the seed.
It took 10 pots to plant this one cross. Wouldn't you know it? About half
way through this batch, I put the envelope down to reach for another pott when
the envelope was caught by a wisp of wind and turned over spilling seed onto
the grass below. I have no idea how many spilled . . . my eyes said only
three or four but my calculations say about a dozen! An extended search did not
turn up even one seed!
Now with 248 seed from that cross, you want to know what's the big deal?
Well! My Dykes Medal winner was in that bunch that hit the ground! <bg> Wonder
if the hand held vacuum would do the job? Maybe if I put down a piece of
cardboard to kill out that patch of grass? The seed should show up then!
Betty W. in South-central KY Zone 6 ah, how I hate the cold.
