Re: HIST: Irises and grave sites


Cemeteries have been places for irises, I know.  My  maternal grandparents'  
family plantation had their own cemetery secluded in a part of the plantation 
-- I found the Blackberry Lily growing there among the graves - and that is an 
interesting form of iris, .  Also, when I was in India, I kept looking for  
muslim graveyards and took a picture (the slide was not very good and is 
somewhere in my collection) of white irises growing in one.  I understand that they 
feel  the iris, as a rainbow,  helps the soul on its way to heaven.  Who knows
