There is a secret, undocumented feature that people might be interested
in.

If they do a search for

   CLARENCE x %poobah

it will treat the % as a wildcard. So that essentially becomes

   CLARENCE x *poobah

and will match any amount of text (including parantheses, etc.) between the
' x ' and the word poobah. It will not take into account the level of
parantheses -- only whether or not both strings are in the lineage.

Try it with 'Sandman%Smoke', for example. It matches Busy Butterfly's
parentage of

((Summer Sandman x Kalahari) x (Stepping Out x Tinsel Town)) X Smoke Rings

Would it be more intuitive to make that a '*' instead of '%'?
