Or how could we work out a system for collecting images of Irises at the

What does everyone think?

Having pictures a a reference has several pros and cons, but it does sort of beg the question:

How long do photos last?

Some people use the life span of a traditional silver-halide C-print--an everyday photo developed by your neighborhood Wal-Mart--as the standard by which to evaluate longevity. Even those photos have a lifetime ranging from about 20 to 40 years. Even printed on archival paper only extends their life to 60-80 years.

Oh, you meant digital?

How do you handle the color calibration issue? The life time of information stored on CDs is nowhere near what they originally thought (especially with the thin film cheap versions you get most of the time today.)

How many people have CD burners?

I am not saying we should not do it, but I am saying it is not as simple a question as it seems on the surface and it is not the panacea for all yet.
