Linda and Willy -- I can only guess that I am in a peculiar climate
pocket, or that it's something in my soil that deters HOLY NIGHT from
reblooming. I have left it in the same place for as long as 4-5 years, and
I have actually replaced the native soil with commercial-grade topsoil in
the beds where it is presently situated. Willy, I'm sorry to hear that you
have the same experience. Still, I offer the fact that its children rebloom
as consolation and encouragement to anyone else who can't get it to put on
an autumn show. Even as a once-bloomer, it's a lovely iris.
And, speaking of new things, I was just in the garden to cut stalks and
found BLAZING SUNRISE nipped in the bud, literally, by the recent
reeze -- the first time that it has sent up a rebloom stalk for me. I
hadn't noticed it because it was right beside ISTANBUL, which was blooming
rigfht along until the freeze. Rosalie -- does showing color before
freezing count as a rebloom? (I'd guess it was 2 days short of opening.)
If so, count BLAZING SUNRISE for zone 7, please. -- Griff
