HYB: question - toughness/delayed germination?

Does anybody have any data about performance of seedlings from first
year versus delayed germination seedlings in relation to difficult
climate/disease?

My intuition is that seeds that require two chilling periods (two
winters outdoors) might be better adapted to my erratic
climate/weather. Some early fall seedlings here seem to have been
weaker than seedlings that germinated the following spring.

I think I see some difference in batches of seedlings from seeds planted
outdoors in the fall the "normal" way. Only one cross with much data -
BEHOLD A LADY X CELEBRATION SONG - fairly low germination rate the first
year, most of which died, followed by much higher germination the second
year and a few more the third year. Seedlings from the third spring
seem much more robust (healthier) than the first two year's.
