Re: CULT: rebloomers brought inside

The last blooms on FALL EMPIRE finished yesterday, with a few to go on
MYSTERY BLUSH. Very nice to have iris bloom this late!

I've done several different things with plants I've dug and brought in
to enjoy bloom.

Some go back outside in their pots. Either because I'm too busy to
replant them or am concerned about them having to establish new roots.
Or because they try to bloom too early in the spring, and I want to be
able to bring them back indoors during late freezes so I can (hopefully)
get pollen. Usually I put them out during a warm spell.

Some go back in the ground in the holes they came from. Usually these
are cultivars I have in abundance and don't mind if it sets them back a
bit, or are badly damaged by abrupt shift to severe cold. I try to keep
the dirt ball in the pot as intact as possible, but the short time they
have been potted is usually not enough to form enough roots to hold it
together.

Some stay indoors to be planted out in the spring. Usually don't do
this, but I have a couple with pods ripening, so they will stay inside.

<This fall I had some late rebloomers I dug before they got frosted, and
bloomed them inside (Coral Point, and IB Hi. I'm curious what others do
with them after they bloom. ..... this was a first for me, but after
having iris blooming on Christmas, I think I'll have to do it again.
