Re:CULT:Chico Maid

A judges negative spin on papery bracts sounds as though the judge didn't
know a wide enough range of iris varieties.

Among tetraploids, Snow Flurry had papery bracts from its 3/4
more-or-less pallida ancestry, with Thais being one of
the pink pallidas.

I never found the papery bracts particularly attractive, but they were
certainly a normal part of many varieties' character, especially among
pallida-like diploids. A judge on the bench is supposed to judge the
variety against itself, not against the judge's limited knowledge or
prejudices, not that any of us lack limited knowledge. Some of us just have
more limited than others.
