HYB:REB:Form:food for thought

One of the criticisms of rebloom in the past was the inferior (read narrow &
tailored) form. Although many people like to collect the older (50's &
60's) rebloomers, how many people would give big (new iris) dollars for them?
Forty to fifty dollars?

Many of us are working to improve the form of rebloomers. We seem to be in
agreement that CA (temperate climate) rebloomers have much to offer the
process.

But, lets not totally discount northern rebloomers that are a bit older. To
totally remove them from the picture might be a mistake? I'm basically
talking about irises like IMMORTALITY, PINK ATTRACTION, EARL OF ESSEX, SPIRIT OF
MEMPHIS, etc.

I've found EOE to be an excellent parent. It's been used a lot for good
reason. It tends to lend it's good form to it's children.

Some have trouble with haft marks and veins on children of PA, and I see it
in others, but I've not had that experience. I've only one line from PA
which is MEMPHIS MISS and her children. But how about using those 'misfits' in a
pink plicata line? <vbg>

It's not perfect, but how many irises have the rebloom capability of
IMMORTALITY?

There are many irises . . . tailored, ruffled & laced! Some have
overlapping falls! But how many of them rebloom like IMMORTALITY? Maybe some exist,
but I've not bloomed them here (yet.)
