Guess you are using manure in a fresher state than I use/used. The manure
I've used wouldn't stop anything from washing out the drain holes.

When I first started using manure, I cleaned stalls and stables from my
home place. The space hadn't been used for 30 years and the product was fairly
well broken down. I carried it out in black plastic bags. When I first
arrived in KY, I cleaned an old dairy barn. There were other sources but usually
mixed with bedding. Much the same situation.

I'm no longer able to clean barns, and I'm forced to buy it in bags.
Nothing I've used would stop water or the manure itself from washing out of the
drain holes. My misunderstanding.
