Mike, it's not 10 inches, it only 8 inches for MDBs

  According to The Judges Handbook it does not qualify as a SDB because the
  bloom is too small and stalk is too short. MDB will not work because bloom
  is to late. Thus the seedling is not introducible. A small iris that could
  bloom south of the MOB will not be this seedling.

  Judges Handbook:
  Definition: Bearded iris up to 25 cm (10 inches) in height. Stems are
  usually unbranched; Flowers are 4 to 7.5 cm (1.6 to 3 inches) wide; earliest
  blooming of all bearded  iris and with pure I. pumila usually the first to
  bloom.
