Keeping my fingers crossed for great results from these crosses!
I wasn't able to get any second generation crosses from RENOWN this year, but am eager to see results from a couple of first generation crosses - all the seeds from both of these crosses looked bad, but I'm hoping for at least a few babies. 
total of 72 seeds from 2 pods from DUSKY GRAPE X R.
 ~20 seeds from R X ALL MY DREAMS.
[OOPS - just realized I overlooked one successful second gen cross - DrNy1: yellow (DOCTOR ALAN x RENOWN) X AVALON SUNSET. total of 58 seeds from two pods]
Betty, it looks like number of seeds per pod wasn't any worse here for the R crosses than for anything else this summer - most were fairly low #s. 46 seeds from R X yellow seedling: HoMTtall (HoM X TREASURED). 40 seeds from a pink seedling (DOCTOR ALAN x KIWI CHEESECAKE) X R. Pretty good. Most of the seeds in both these crosses looked good. Three additional R crosses had 12 icky seeds, 23 ok, and 33 ok.
Other crosses had 29, 11, 30, 9, 14, 54 in two pods, 54, 19, 15. These were mostly seedlings or IMM X cultivars from other climates. The one with 9 seeds was cultivar X seedling. Rarely have success setting pods here on cultivars selected in other climates.
Like you, Betty, often much better seed production from my seedlings, selected for doing well in my growing conditions. 124 seeds from two pods of IC10Ty X HoMTtall. The only other seedling X seedling cross produced 44 seeds - HoMTtall X 7Tshortpink: (IMM x CELEBRATION SONG) X TREASURED. Most seeds from both these crosses looked good.
I rarely have more than about 40 seeds per pod, except on really junky tough old retro crosses, which often have 60+ good seeds. Typically ~20 to 30 on most crosses.
Wonder what kind of seed production/pod they get in iris heaven? CA/OR/OZ? Wouldn't it be nice if registration info included how many seeds there were/pod? LOL
