Bob -- Well, of course, the photos are a big plus, and the fact that Wiki apparently scours the net for them. Then, there are the awards listings and the identities and information about the hybridizers. These are the three main attractions for me, though the Other Topic Areas and People are features I haven't yet had occasion to use, but which look promising. The Register is simpler to use, but it offers only the three features of identifying the iris, describing it, and facilitating identification of its heritage and progeny, in addition to being the official registry. So, each has its function, and Wiki is a really a valuable addition. -- Griff

I have no control over the Iris registry but it my understanding it is working just fine right now. I believe the password issues have been resolved and as a member of Iris Register you have been given EMembership in AIS. Try going to the EMembership on the AIS website and perhaps you can not access Iris Register by way of that. You get the added benefits of the Bulletins online.

For those Register users I would like some feedback as to how it compares to searches on the Iris Encyclopedia. The Encyclopedia now has most of the information in the Register and much more. The search mechanism must be used as an advance search of all public webs otherwise you will only get info from the introductory pages of the main web or whichever of the 20 webs you are in. Searchs may be just a bit slower because of all the data in the Encyclopedia including about 30,000 images but still efficiency has improved since we broke it into 20 webs. Thr Regiser is still the definitive search since the Encyclopedia is not complete but I would like to hear how they compare.

Linda and Carol,
On November 29, I received an email from the following sender address:
_AisMemSec@irises.org_ (A*@irises.org)
In the email was the ID and password and it stated when the membership
expired. It also said if you had any problems to contact Tom Gormley
386-277-2057. Perhaps if you look back at your old emails and/or SPAM folder around
11/29 you will find an email similar to mine. If not I guess you could call
Tom G.
Hope this helps.
