I was not aware that the iris register was defunct. My subscription ran out about November and I have not renewed it. I asked John Jones by e-mail twice if the iris register had been upgraded with information from later years that was not on it last year. Years 2008, 2009 and 2010. I received no answer either time. Has it been upgraded??? If not it is not worth $15.00 to me. In the current iris list John Jones states that those who are registered in iris register, however it is accessed, will be given automatic e-membership. I e-mailed Tom Gormley about this earlier when I first heard this and he said that no one would be switched to e-membership who did not want to be. I can't take the computer to the bath room with me and I do not wish to print out a copy of Irises. I want a hard copy of Irises with my membership therefore it looks as if I cannot use the iris register if I want a hard copy of Irises. If this is the case, it is a bunch of nonsense and it seems to me that the AIS left hand does not know what the AIS right hand is doing in this matter. I know that this move is an economic one becuase the AIS is short of money. But, I have read many times tht membership is declining in the AIS. Every obstacle AIS puts in the way of a member using what AIS offers is a potential turn off for members. The procedure always is KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) I am contemplating buying the latest check list (2010) and forgetting about th iris register. How many steps have been added to gain access to the iris register, or whatever it is now called. I used to get it with one step www.irisregister.com and I used it extensively to get all my iris records up to date. I think an article explaining all this should have been published in Irises before the switch was mad and they should have asked for comments. Sometimes people get carried away like Microsoft does and they think they know what everone needs more than those whom they serve. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
