Char, Reemay is a brand name for nonwoven synthetic floating plant bed covers. I say Reemay just 'cause it's shorter. Permeable to air and rain.
Commercially available in various thicknesses for insect and various degrees of frost protection. They used to sell a lightweight version of it locally for tobacco bed covers that didn't offer much frost protection, but multiple layers work just as well as one thick layer.
