To tell what is rebloom trigger you need to keep temperatures so you can tell when you have bud set temperatures. Plants need to be mature at that time.Correlate with when plants rebloom.
Preferential vernalization rebloom will be about 5 month, give or take a week, perhaps two. The idea that you could breed this down to 3 months is in same realm as breeding tall iris together and selecting to height and eventually getting a 7 foot tall bearded iris. You can push limits, but there is always an asymptote region on upper and lower limits of what you can do with current genes. Mother nature has honed genes over millions of years to do the job that they are intended to do. Preferential vernalization genes function in Mediterranean plants to provide a back up for when winters are mild and do not provide adequate vernalization. Without this plants would miss a season or several seasons of bloom. Too short a period and plants would bloom before winter, plants would die and be eliminated from gene pool. So genes for sort times would have been eliminated by mother nature millions of years ago.
Summer rebloomers bloom immediately that they have bud set. Even if it doesn't do it every year? Or is that an oversimplification? What about 4 months? Lots of those. Maybe 3 months would be a better indicator here - that would be ~first part of Aug.
