Thanks Linda for posting your information. This is the type of breeding I was talking about. Many breeders for rebloom have tried this route. Much effort and time spent on this route. The numbers of results are very small for effort and time put in. Often results not posted as none to report. And looked for results of everblooming or cold hardy rebloomers with modern form just isn't there with over 60-70 years of efforts. People are still tying it.
For reasons I've given many times, it is not the best route to go.You may consider giving copy of checklist to AIS library archives. They may not have a copy.

Brown X CA rebloom In the back of the 1975 first rebloom checklist, it says Lloyd Austin (Placerville, CA) "often crossed the hardy remontants of Dr. Brown with the warm winter type, such as Mr. Craig's" I was curious, so looked at all the registered rebloomers by Lloyd Austin in the online checklist to see whether or not he introduced any of those crosses. I found 20 registered rebloomers, only one of that type and it has only been reported to rebloom in CA and TX. JAUNTY JERRY (Lloyd Austin, R. 1965) Sdlg. 233AHY. BB horned, 22" (56 cm), EM & Re Green-white self. September Sparkler X ((Happy Birthday x Mulberry Snow) x Flounced Loveliness)). Rainbow 1966 There is another one from Sass rebloom breeding. And Sass supposedly may have developed (some? of) his rebloomers using G.P. Brown rebloomers, tho that isn't mentioned in the '75 checklist.EXOTIC FIRE (Lloyd Austin, R. 1964) Sdlg. 1100. TB, 40" (102 cm), M & Re
Carmine red self. Firebright X Autumn Flame. Rainbow 1964. rebloom reported for CA & MD AUTUMN FLAME is Sass, R. 1941 rebloom reported in zone 5, NEB. fromseedlings involving Morning Splendor X King Tut (erroneously reported as
Autumn Splendor in the '75 checklist) And maybe this one has some 'hardy' ancestry. CRIMSON REPEATER (Lloyd Austin, R. 1964) Sdlg. 1103. TB, 44" (112 cm), EM & Re S light crimson; F bright crimson. Firebright X Autumn Delight. Rainbow 1964. Autumn Delight is from a selfed seedling So maybe Austin's work is part of what you were referring to, Chuck? Looks like he didn't get far. I think Byers continued with some of Austin's bloodlines. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
