When I was doing some late fall cleanup in the garden last month, I found
that a number of the iris clumps were heavily infested with aphids (they
seemed to show a preference for the pbf cultivars - see Archives). The way
I dealt with them was to fill a spray bottle with soapy water and give them
a good drenching - it seemed to work. I think it would be better for you to
take some positive action, if possible, rather than wait for Mother Nature
to do the job for you at this time of year.
