OT-BIO: KATHY CHILTON

From: ranchiris@aol.com

Hello - I am Kathy Chilton; I live on a ranch near Tucson, Az, and grow iris. I was just elected President of the Tucson Area Iris Society. I have been a member of AIS for 4 years, and attended the Denver Convention in '98. I am very excited about attending the Dallas Convention in April. I have enjoyed getting to know others with the Iris Affliction. I am new to the internet, but learning. I grow about 400 cultivars, mostly TB's. I like some of everything, and was somewhat amused by the strong opinions I just read here about novelty iris. I feel that if you like it - grow it! If you don't, don't grow it!
But, please don't criticize anyone else's taste just because it doesn't match your own. Variety is the spice of life, and what makes a garden interesting.
Our weather here in Tucson has been warm, and extremely dry. All my iris are growing and a couple of RE's are blooming. I also have daffodils and tulips blooming a month early. On the ranch, we are putting out supplemental feed and pumping lots of water for the cattle and wildlife. La Nina is NOT our favorite lady. Happy irising to all!
