Oops! Well, I think it is a good question to take to the list and sometimes
people post to the list a note in which they 'speak' to one but are really
talking to the whole, just a rhetorical device to vary things a bit, and I do
it myself, so I just pitched in my two bits worth. Glad you could use the
info. Maybe someone else can share some other ideas, too. I may be wrong, but
as I recall a good deal of our talk about iris companions has been about
annuals and perennials. Evergreens are good in the border, also flowering
shrubs. Makes the place look presentable in off seasons. I think the yellow
things and the red things are hard to work with with irises but some of the
blue foliaged things are pretty good. I had a rue once that was a wonderful
huge ball until an ice storm split it and it looked real good with the iris
foliage.
