Re: TB: HYB: aphylla

From: Mike Lowe <mlowe@worldiris.com>

Jim and Vicki are doing some very interesting things. (A tet MTB X an
MTB that gave an iris that could not be classed as an MTB and was
registered as an IB) = a Tall Bearded.

The jury (AIS judges) is still out on these. However, we have been
doing the same old, the same old, the same old, so long it is time
that an incursion into the TB ranks came from a different direction.
No one but the creator of an iris can determine class, however the
market and awards drive acceptance.

HARMONY might! have aphylla blood just as might LUSTRE. Until we get
genetic fingerprinting down to the cost and complexity where
threadbare iris treasuries can support a grad student doing research,
we are just pushing opinions.

Keith Keppel and Phil Edinger did a marathon session in the Schreiner
stud records and pulled out a batch of heretofore unrecorded,
unpublished data. I think that I have the updated Black Forest/Ethiop
Queen data on the website. It again all comes down to the HARMONY
conjecture. Prior to a correction to Ethiop Queen she was tagged as
the aphylla path but turned out not to be.

Cheers,
