Chris explains in simple term what is going on here:

First, the screening is NOT going on at ONElist.
Second the screening is most likely going on at wherever you are sending
and/or receiving your email.
This may be at work or at home.
The e-mail screening is being done either by your IT dept at work or less
likely perhaps your ISP.

If you are engaging in these e-mail lists at and on workplace time your
employer has every legal right to screen them. Do not debate this statement
with me as it has already been before the courts and the courts upheld the
rights of an employer to "ownership" of the e-mail received at the
workplace. This has also been upheld as the grounds for dismissal due to
wasted time on non-work related pursuits which the company has documented.

As regards the screening for so-called inappropriate words and phrases that
too is the prerogative of your employer. Like it or not. Stupid for the most
part and actually really and truly censorship.

So if it is happing at work. Basically too bad. You cannot do anything about
it but complain to your IT dept and whoever else may be involved. Mostly the
decree to do this sort of thing is driven from higher corporate ranks and
your IT dept is just carrying out the edicts of the corporation.

Now if it is happening at home. Different story. This is really borderline
illegal censorship. They will probably tell you that you agreed to it in the
fine print of your ISP service contract . I would complain and definitely
change your internet supplier. (Change your ISP provider). There are plenty
out there wanting your business.

This is the last I will wrote of this as it is not of the topic of
discussion that this list is intended. I was originally not going to write
anything at all but decided to do so as many people seemed confused about
this. Hope that this helps you in some way.
