Linda,

Perhaps not so strange at all. The USDA Climate Zone map of Europe at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepage/B_and_T_world_seeds/EUROPEAN.HTM

shows most of Denmark as being in Zone 7, except for Zone 6 in the center
of Jutland and Zone 8 in the area around Copenhagen. While it is certainly
true that similarity in low temperatures does not equate to overall
similarity of climate, it is not too surprinsing that an early flowering
species like reticulata might bloom at about the same time in the same USDA
Zone at various locations in the Northern Hemisphere.
