OT- General Iris Chat

From: "Colleen Modra" <irises@senet.com.au>

Hi
The AIS journal hit today, just had time for a brief skim, a new introduction from Winterberry Gdns caught my eye "Raspberry Silk" has anyone out there seen it for real.

My SIGNA seeds also turned up tody, at last, I can stop panicing, now all I haave to do is find time to plant them this autumn.

Our vast and very unusal rain is bringing effects, especially weeds. It's amazing my seedling pots have been overhead watered all summer, with only a few weeds, but now, a week after rain theses masses of weeds up, and all through the garden. We usually Surflan in autumn before the rains but were caught out this time. Les tried to put some on in the tail end of the rain, but the soil was so waterlogged it just floated off. Despite almost 6" of rain and temps in the mid 30s, I've only seen on little bit of rot so far, and the was in an area the had a lot of run-off flowing over it.

Harvest of Memories is heading up, but I suspect this unusal weather will tempt a lot of things to flower earlier than normal.
