I don't have any registrations beyond 1989 and someone may indeed have used 
that name recently in which case I'm sure someone else will pop up with that 
information for you.

But I did check and did not find a BLUE  EMPEROR. What I did find in the 1939 
Check List was EMPEROR, a collected blue form of 'I. orientalis', which in 
this case means today's I. sanguinea, a Siberian species.

The Check List says it was collected by Barr and named by Wallace, meaning 
the English nursery. The 1922 Wallace catalog, available in as a nice reprint 
from your friendly neighborhood HIPS, says 'A noble form of Orientalis, of 
Japanese origin. the falls are large and circular and the whole flower is a 
deep violet blue. 3ft."

Just in case this is info seems relevant.....
