During the days of color classified shows, 'white white' was pure
white.

'Cold white' had a blue influence or had blue in the background.

"Warm' white had a yellow influence or had yellow in the background

Blues and other colors were divided into light, medium, and dark.

Pink was called light red.

Plicatas were classified according to their ground color.

Bi-colors and blends were classified by the color of the standards,
so if EDITH WOLFORD had been around back then, she would have been
placed in a yellow bi-color class.

The Fort Worth Iris Society kept the color classified show through
1975, and there was great resistance to changing to a cultivar show.
As I recall the FWIS was the first society in Region 17 to change.
But, after we did the first cultivar show, there was never a thought
about having a color classified show ever again.

Some of you may also remember that a beard was classified by the
color of what was in the throat and not what is visible!

I entered my first show in 1967 and had blue ribbons on ORANGE PARADE
(included a trophy), SNOW GODDESS, JOSEPH'S MANTLE, and ENGRAVED.

Linda, thanks for bringing this up and bringing back the memories!
